The Year That Was- St George Dragons
2012: Eliminated Final exit after finishing Fifth- 12 wins, 6 losses
Highest Polling Player at Phelan Medal: Nick Ryan (5th- 14 votes)
Positives: They are an exciting unit who have a good class of young talent coming through the ranks. The forward duo of Ryan and Jason Saddington is probably the best in the competition and if both stay next year, expect big things. They improved their depth as shown in their Division Two (Reserves) premiership.
Negatives: Making the finals was great but they would’ve loved to have progressed past the Elimination Final where they lost to Balmain. Not having Olds Park all year hurt as did the injury battles for key player, Declan Donohue.
Areas for improvement: St George just need to continue riding the wave. A fully-functional home ground and another year of experience for their young brigade will see them play finals and challenge for the premiership in 2013.
Overall Grade: B
