bankmecu Gippstar sporting awards

We at bankmecu Gippstar are delighted to recognize outstanding talent around the Gippsland region and would like to give you the opportunity to nominate who you feel is worthy of recognition within your sports club. Whether that be an athlete, official or administrator all nominations are welcome and strongly encouraged. The prestigious bankmecu Gippstar Awards have been around since 1960, where they were first known as the Caltex Awards. The awards were developed in order to recognise the sporting achievements of members from the Gippsland community, in all areas of sport, many of whom were experiencing state, national and international success, despite the fact they lived so far from their designated training bases.

Some previous Winners include: 1965 The Late Lionel Rose - Boxing, 2002 Scott Pendlebury - Basketball, 2003 Lisa Alexander - Netball, 2002 Cameron White - Cricket, 2011 Ashley Delaney - Swimming, 2011 Alex Sheedy - Basketball, 2010 Lisa Phillips Lawn Bowls and 1964 Ted Hopkins water skiing.

Each month members of the bankmecu Gippstar panel come together to determine winners in the senior and junior category and from those nominations overall annual winners are determined. Other awards also include, Team of the year, Hall Of Fame, Special Achievers, Gippsland Champion and Club of the year.

Nomination forms and nomination information regarding the bankmecu Gippstar awards are attached.

Gippsland has many unrecognized sporting champions and the bankmecu Gippstar panel look forward to receiving nominations from your club/association to ensure they know how appreciated they are and their work isn’t going unnoticed.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
