Northern Blues midfielder Adam Marcon has won the inaugural Ford VFL Coaches Player of the Year Award.
In a tied finish with Port Melbourne captain John Baird, Marcon won the award on countback with six best on ground votes, compared to Baird's three.
After each round coaches vote on players from the opposition team that they believe to have been the most influential on the match and on their team’s performance.
All votes – on a three, two and one basis - were submitted to AFL Victoria after each match.
The voting tally will remained in camera from round 18 until the Liston Trophy night on Monday September 3 when the winner was revealed.
Marcon won the use of a Ford vehicle for six months after being announced winner.
