UNSW/ES sharpshooter, Leigh Lavery has claimed the Stan Milton Medal as the leading goalkicker in the AFL Sydney Premier Division competition.
Lavery kicked four goals in the final round against Sydney University to bring his tally to 89 goals for the season. It was a double celebration for the Club President with his senior team also sealing the minor premiership and the first weekend of the finals off.
St George youngster, Nick Ryan jumped Ben Taggart (Balmain) into second with seven goals for the weekend to take his final number of goals to 65. Taggart was absent on the weekend with injury and remained on 60 goals.
In Division One, David Kovacevic from Manly-Warringah cemented his status as the best big man early on, finishing with 82 goals. Next best was Southern Power's Jared Wilson on 39 goals.
Former Premier Division player, Jonathan Shineberg claimed the Division Two leading goalkicker status before the start of the finals this week with six goals taking his final figure to 58 goals for the regular season.
In Division Three, Saints a.f.c figurehead, Michael Dunlea was top of the leaderboard with 66 goals, while Adrian Dragicevic from UTS led his side up forward and finished on 59 goals.
Camden duo, Daniel Flint and Ben Laid could not be separated at the end of the regular season with 40 goals.
James Famularo from Sydney Hills Eagles fell agonisingly short of the century with twelve goals in the final round, taking him to 98 goals for the season. In Under 18 Division Two, Mitchell Bell, despite a goalless final round finished on top with 44 goals.
Belinda Pride was far and away the leading goalkicker for the unbeaten Balmain Dockers with 86 goals for the regular season.
These leading goalkickers in each division will be recognised on Phelan Medal night.
