The Crows win was made even sweeter considering that many Darling Downs players had to endure an unfavourable preparation given the 8:45am game time and Sherwood’s unwillingness to change the time format.
The win was set up on the back of a strong first quarter where the Crows booted 4 goals to 2 but Sherwood fought back well in the second term and at the main break the Crows held a narrow 1 point advantage. The second half was a demolition with the Darling Downs booting 6 goals to 1 in an outstanding display of running football. Sam Copland was unstoppable across half forward booting 5 goals and setting his partner in crime Taran Rissman up for 3 more majors while Brendan Shelton gave his midfield first use all day and Will Grundon and Callais Chicken were solid as always in defence.
The victory is another example of the remarkable improvement all players have made throughout the 2012 season with the Magpies defeating the Crows by 21 points just over a month ago. This week the Crows take on powerhouse Queensland club Aspley. The game will be played at 12:45pm at Wilston Grange AFC this Sunday 26th August.
All the best to all players, coaches and officials involved.
