The Gold Coast Suns have dangled a carrot in front of Cape York sensation Isaac Rokeby, and his mentor in Cairns hopes the teenager is hungry. Rokeby, who kicked 10 goals in his last showing for North Cairns this season, will play for the Suns' reserves side in the North East Australian Football League against Mt Gravatt tomorrow. Norths coach Kane Richter, who has been helping with the 17-year-old's move from Lockhart River, said it would give him a taste of what could lie ahead. "It's a one-off game, a bit of a taste, I guess," Richter said. "Nothing amazing will be expected of him - it's just a way of getting him involved in the program and showing him how much hard work he'll need to do." Richter said moving away from Cairns was inevitable, if Rockeby wanted to follow in the footsteps of Far Northerners Jarrod Harbrow, Courtenay Dempsey and Rex Liddy into the AFL. "And he's keen to do that, hopefully he takes a lot away from this weekend." Rokeby's departure will leave a hole for Richter to work out who will line up in the forward line for Norths this weekend. In games against Cairns City and Centrals in the last month, Rokeby (10 goals) along with defender Chris Jorgensen (12) have been called on to kick goals. "It's been pretty disrupted all season with losing a few to injury and some away for work." Richter said. But Norths will return to its "tried and tested" formula.
