South Toowoomba will host the Warwick Redback’s at Harristown Park in a game that will just about finalise the Under 16 Top 4, so who wants to play finals?
The Bombers are coming off a twelve point defeat to the hands of the table topping Cougars at a very cold and windy Baker Street last week, while the Redback’s hosted the second placed Swans and went down 2.6 (18) to 12.7 (79).
Josh Read is the in-form Redback, the silky left foot midfielder would be polling well in the league best and fairest as he has added another dimension to his already impressive game. In season 2012, Read has been able to push forward and kick bags of goals. Josh kicked a career game high, eight goals against Pittsworth a couple of weeks ago and will be looking to assert himself today.
For South Toowoomba, they have lacked the ability to get their best team on the paddock all season and this could be the week that they do. Injured star Jacob Schaumann is close to a return, add to this DD Crows Sam Flannery and John Gillett who are in good form.
Dylan Newman and Jay Creeks are the regular contributors for the Bombers and if Souths are to fly up they will need Newman and Creeks to continue their good season form.
Footy is a team game and the Redback’s will require the likes of Scott See, Harley Beckhouse and Shane Iles to support the classy Josh Read.
Warwick were too good back in the Round 9 encounter at Roddies Oval but expect it to be a different story at “The Hanger” as the Bombers are always hard to beat at home.
If Warwick wins they will secure a top 4 spot and end the Bombers season. A win to South Toowoomba will see them sneak into the top 4, though a loss won’t be the end of the season as both sides will need victory in Round 18.
A game not to miss!!
South Toowoomba will also host the Warwick under 8’s, 10’s, 12’s and 14’s at Harristown Park kicking off at 8:40am. Pittsworth will go head to head with powerhouse club Coolaroo in the under 12’s, 16’s and under 8’s.
It will be a top of the table clash out at the Swannies home ground Owen Street, as Dalby play host to the University Cougars in all junior age groups. The young Stingers will be out in force against the Lions in the under 8’s, 10’s and 12’s, while Lockyer Valley will travel to Goondiwindi and battle it out in the Under 12’s and 14’s.
