Future Looks Bright for Trafalgar Victory FC

Trafalgar Victory FC has claimed the Gippsland Soccer League Men’s Reserves title with a comprehensive 9-0 victory over the bottom of the ladder Newborough-Yallourn.  The win, whilst not the most impressive performance of the year, was enough to give the Victory an unassailable 12 point lead over second placed Traralgon City, with only three matches remaining in the 2012 season.

The round 15 victory continues what has been an outstanding season for the Victory.  With a goal difference currently sitting at 80 goals in Trafalgar’s favour, the lads wearing the red and white stripes have dominated this level of competition.  Their only defeat coming in round 14, when an experienced Olympians team got an early jump over the Trafalgar team.

With the reserves title done and dusted, the club’s attention now focusses upon the Men’s 2nd Division team, who also sit atop the league ladder. At the completion of round 13 the TVFC men enjoy a 7 point lead over second place team, Traralgon City.  However, with two catch-up games yet to be played by Traralgon, this title is very much yet to be decided.  The equation for the TVFC men is simple, win the remaining two matches for the season and the title is assured.

Whilst not yet competing in either the senior or youth divisions, the men from Trafalgar have worked extremely hard to ensure the continual improvement of football at the club.  They have shared the experience with a number of junior players and have beaten all opposition clubs at least once in the season.

Squad coach Mark Wood was delighted with the reserves winning the league title and is equally impressed with the development of the 2nddivision team also.  Wood too has worked hard to develop a sustainable game plan which has stood strong against all playing styles and formations.  He has been ably supported by a player leadership group who have brought a greater sense of ownership and belonging to the playing group.

With the recent announcement of $98,500 from the Victorian Government towards the construction of club change rooms and a canteen facility, the future indeed looks bright for Trafalgar Victory FC both on and off the field.  All at the club eagerly await the upcoming finals series with much anticipation.
