The Warwick Redbacks under 14’s will need to “Risk it to get the Biscuit” if they are to get the four premiership points in their Round 16 clash with the Dalby Swans at Roddies Oval.
Warwick’s last month of footy has been up and down, much like the famous dance performed by Willy Wonka’s Oompa Loompa’s in the hit movie. It was a sour game for the Reddies last time these sides met, as the Swannies recorded a big 10 goal win.
Dalby will be fresh after the bye and will be looking to build momentum, as they look to plan their attack on the finals.
Warwick will need to convert in front of the big sticks today or forget finals, similar to the Spanish Inquisition – convert or leave. The young Reddies have struggled to capitalise on their inside 50’s this season and will need to against the third placed Swans.
Callais Chicken will need to continue his good Representative and Crows form for today’s clash. Chicken is a pivotal player for the Redbacks and his attack on the footy along with his speed is his weapons. Dalby did a good job to keep Chicken quiet last time these sides met way back in round 3 but Callais has developed into quite the player since then.
For Dalby, Danielle Wall is the key cog to the Swannies success. Wall is an attacking centre half back and sets up a lot of the Swans attack. Danielle missed the round 14 clash with the top of the table Roo’s but no doubt she will be a welcome inclusion into this important round 16 blockbuster.
Both sides have a number of different goal-kickers and both rely heavily on their midfield brigades to kick the goals, will a key forward stand up today for either side?
What a win means for both sides
Dalby – A win would keep their goal of the all important second chance come finals alive, as they have University and the BYE to finish the season.
Warwick – A win would just about secure a finals berth with both University and Souths clipping at their heels. Both Uni and Souths are playing each other today and Warwick play Souths next week.
What a loss would mean for both sides
Dalby – Win or lose, the Swans will play finals this year but wouldn’t want to face Warwick, University or South Toowoomba come finals. A loss today could see them bow out in straight sets come finals.
Warwick – A loss would mean they would be fighting to stay alive in 2012 and would be relying on results going their way. You definitely don’t want this to happen, especially with the Reddies facing South Toowoomba next round.
