You will have seen some stories and heard the rumours, but now it's official. The South Burnett Saints are looking to expand the AFL Darling Downs competition North by filling the void left by the Kingaroy-Nanango Jets & Kingaroy Bulldogs.
The two clubs had very successful times in the competition before a decrease in player numbers and financial difficulty forced their closure in 2006 (Bulldogs) & 2009 (Jets) respectively.
Auskick has seen fantastic numbers over the past two years and endeavoured to fill the void left by the Jets disbandment. Throughout this program the interest in reforming a club has finally hit strong enough interest that people have been keen to take it on.
Obviously starting a new club does not happen without some hard work and the first public meeting will be held next Wednesday July 25th. Please spread the word to anyone who you think may be interested and get along to show your support for the Saints! The meeting will be a meet and greet for all involved as well as providing everyone an opportunity to have some questions answered as the club looks towards entering the competition in April 2013.
The club is endeavouring to field teams in all junior age groups (Under 8s, 10s, 12s, 14s & 16s) as well as a senior A Grade side in its first season.
