This will be the second time these teams have met in 3 weeks after the Bombers came away with a hard fought 10 point win in their last encounter. Very little separated these teams during this clash with the lead changing hands several times until Souths kicked 2 late goals to steal victory. This result has strengthened Souths tag as premeirship favourites as they now become the hunted.
The Tigers bounced back to the winning circle last week with a solid 32 point victory over finals contenders University. The win was set up on the back on a big second quarter where the Tigers outscored the Cougars 4 goals to 1. With a strategic set up behind the play the Tigers backline at times looked denser than an Australian banksia plantation. This will be a tactic the Bombers will have to face this week however the wall behind the ball can come undone on the small confines of Harristown Park.
Souths have had a sensational 2012 season to date and won’t want to drop a game to a team that is a genuine premiership contender keeping in mind that the Bombers were in a similar situation last year before they followed the line of the Miss Lippy classic “the puppy who lost his way”. Leading league goal kicker Dan McPhee has played in big part in the Bombers success and booted 4 goals including the sealer during the game against the Tigers 2 weeks ago.
The Tigers may have more to play for here as they look to consolidate a top 2 finish and the second chance come finals. In other games University host the Lockyer Valley at Baker Street, The Goondiwidni Hawks take on the Highfields Lions at Riddles oval while the Swans host Coolaroo and Warwick have the bye
