This is the only senior game being played this weekend after their round 7 clash was postponed due to both teams being heavily represented in the Darling Downs Seniors team who comprehensively defeated the Northern Rivers in May.
The Bombers have started 2012 much like they did last year but will be looking to avoid another second half of the year fadeout as the wheels fell off the well oiled machine as the club approached the finals in 2011.
New recruit Daniel McPhee has had an outstanding season to date booting 65 goals which included an equal club record of 18 goals against Dalby last weekend. McPhee has more than made up for the absence of veteran forward Keith Webb who succumbed to an ongoing knee injury early in the season.
Former premiership players James Kratzmann and Nick Jones have given the Bombers backline a huge boost returning to the club this season after stints with the Dalby Swans and Gladstone Mudcrabs respectively. Jeff Neumann is another player who has found form for the Bombers of late and has returned to his Holman Medal form of 2009 over the past month while on ballers Bradon Behan and Ryan Gladman have been extremely consistent all season.
For the Tigers new recruit Hugh Priest has had a super year for the yellow and black and was amongst the best with 6 goals for the Tigers in their win last week over the Hawks. Michael O’Donoghue Jnr has also had his most consistent year for quite some time in 2012 and has been a regular in the team’s best players with his uncanny ability be in the right place at the right time.
Add 2011 Grand Final best on ground medallist Luke Adams and rebounding defender Stephen Harbort to the mix and you have a team that looks more than capable of following in the footsteps of the Lions with their 3 peat back in 2001-3.
The winner here will certainly gain a slight psychological boost as we draw closer to the finals whilst also picking up the premierships favourites tag along the way.
