Brisbane Lions players and team mascot, Bernie ‘Gabba’ Vegas will pay a visit to the Darling Downs on July 3 to put help footy fans through their paces.
The visit will be part of the Darling Downs holiday super camp run by AFL Queensland at Rockville Oval in Toowoomba.
Boys and girls aged 6-12 will be able to boot a goal in the AFL kicking cage, take a screamer with the ‘Speckie’ machine and test their skills on the inflatable field.
The camp will run from 8:30am until 4:15pm with lunch and afternoon tea provided.
Participants also receive a super camp showbag, AFL trading cards and a football – all for just $50.
AFL Queensland Darling Downs Development Officer, Jeff Neumann, said the camp is a great opportunity for kids to play footy even while the Darling Downs junior competition is on a break for school holidays.
“Our under 8s through to u14s have a break the weekend before the camp,” Neumann said.
“The kids will be nagging at mum and dad to take them out to kick the footy, the super camp is the perfect solution.”
