WOMEN'S INTERVARSITY SQUAD ANNOUNCED

After many tryouts, the women's Intervarsity basketball team that will contest the Southern University Games in Ballarat has been finalised. After a fantastic bronze medal performance at the Australian and Southern University games in 2005, high expectations have already been placed on this squad.

All 3 Green and Gold representatives, Jodie Datson, Tess Feery and Brooke McKay remain in the squad as do fellow bronze medallists, Jen Cameron and Amber Farrington. Datson however, will not be available for the Southern Uni games due to work commitments. Datson will be available for the Australian Games if the team qualifies.

The team looks the strongest it has in years however. 2000 Green and Gold selection, Ginta Statkus returns to the squad as do previous games veterans, Lauren Alexander and Erin McCutcheon. Steph Cortese makes her long awaited debut for LTU and her outstanding inside prescence is expected to reap dividends. Joining Cortese from the LTU Big V side is exciting first year playmaker, Jayda Hunter.

To round out the squad, Erin Mrnjavac, Claire McShane and Tamsin Achilles will also make their debuts for LTU. The squad also has emergencies named to cope with the inevitable drop out of players that generally occurs between now and the games.
