DARLING Downs Aussie Rules talent Nick Upton reckons his Foxtel Cup debut last Saturday wasn't that big a deal.
But when you're part of an historic victory for Queensland AFL, it doesn't get much better.
Upton played in the Morningside Panthers side which pulled off a stunning upset over Port Adelaide, coming from behind to shock the home side by 16 points in its Foxtel Cup quarter-final at AAMI Stadium.
It was the first time a Queensland outfit has beaten an SANFL, VFL or WAFL side in the knockout competition.
Upton has been eager to make his senior debut for Morningside since joining the club last season.
He said while it was great to be part of such a huge upset, he was happy just to get a start.
"I just wanted to get a debut in the seniors," he said.
"Morningside are a very successful club so they've got a strong side. It's pretty hard just to get a game."
Upton's game time was limited but the experience was invaluable.
The former Toowoomba Tigers premiership winner admitted he still has a long way to go to cement his spot but he was willing to put in the hard yards.
"Hopefully I'll be back next week. I'll just keep plugging away," he said
