Trafalgar Victory FC has hosted an FFA Grassroots Coaching Course which was organised by the Gippsland Soccer League.  Fifteen participants from across Gippsland took the opportunity to undertake this nationally recognised coaching program.

FFV Metro Zone Development Officer, Anthony Frost, generously made the long trip to Trafalgar to deliver the course to the willing participants.  The artic conditions made for a chilling evening and demonstrated the drive and passion shown by all in attendance.

Anthony instructed the group upon the structure of a coaching session and demonstrated several engaging activities for kids of all abilities.  Importantly he also presented some of the fundamental aspects of where football in this country is heading via the small sided football model.  At the cornerstone of this model is the love of the game for kids of all ages.  SSF is about all kids enjoying football regardless of ability, gender or background.

All in attendance enjoyed the session greatly and picked up many new tips and ideas about how to best deliver SSF at their own clubs.  Some grassroots coaches have even planned to visit one another’s training to see how other clubs run their sessions.

TVFC would like to thank all coaches who attended this valuable session.  Their involvement will only benefit SSF players at the club level and foster a lifelong love of the game. The club would also like to thank the GSL for making the necessary arrangements to get Anthony to deliver this program.  Finally, TVFC offer a sincere thankyou to Anthony who has given up a great amount of his time from an already packed schedule to provide this excellent opportunity.

All SSF parents, not just coaches, should consider undertaking this 3 hour free course in future when it is offered.  It provides an insight into the national direction of football and provides coaches with a most valuable kit of skills and management strategies.  Great coaches make great footballers!
