The third placed Highfields Lions will play the second placed Dalby Swans in this week’s DD Juniors game of the round. Both sides went head to head in the season opener, where Dalby ran out 12point victors in an epic clash.
Highfields have built a fortress at Kratzke Oval; similar to a Tarantula's burrow anyone that visits finds it hard to escape unscathed. The Lions average winning margin at home in 2012 is 174 but if they think an easy win is on the cards against the Swannies, then they better re-plan now.
Travelling isn't a worry for the young Swans, as their away from home average winning margin is 112. So when two inform teams meet, you get a blockbuster of epic proportion.
For either side, there will be no time for willy-nilly performances. Both sides will need to continue their set game plans and stick to their structures if they want to come away with the four premiership points. A win to the Lions will see them draw level on points with Dalby, while a win will see the Swans extend the margin between them and Highfields to 8points and just about secure a top 2 finish come finals.
Easton, Wall, Melbin, Gaur and Gillespie are the go to players for the Swans and are all in terrific form for the red and white. Highfields also have their own group of stars in the Cherry duo, Stahlhut, Collison, Adams and Grundon who all have played important roles in every game for the Lions.
Will the Lions roar or the Swans fly up, only one way to find out and that is to be at this blockbuster, Kratzke Oval at 11:00am.
Dalby and Highfields will also battle it out in the Under 16's, Under 12's, Under 10's and Under 8's. Pittsworth will be looking to strike an upset against University in the 12's and 16's, while the Under 8's will be in action from 8:40am.
After their seniors won their first ever AFLDD "A" Grade game last round, the whole club will be looking to keep the winning feeling going as they face South Bombers at the sardine pit in all age groups. Only the Warwick and Easts Under 8's, 10's and 12's will be in action at Roddies, while at Riddles Oval Goondiwindi and Coolaroo Under 12's and Under 16's will be in action.
Remember we aren't playing for sheep stations and there is zero tolerance on umpire abuse.
