Trafalgar Victory FC has entrenched itself atop the GSL Reserves Men’s ladder following a comprehensive 21-0 win against a much undermanned Falcons 2000 team.  The Victory has amassed an impressive 63 goals in the opening seven rounds of competition and along the journey defeated last season’s league title holders Traralgon City as well as GSL power clubs Fortuna 60 and Churchill United. It currently also boasts 7 of the top 10 league goal scorers.

The team is comprised mostly of locals from Trafalgar and neighbouring towns, the majority of which have been with the club for some time now.  Coach Mark Wood has played a major part in shaping the current list and has built a game plan that has, to date, held up well against all challengers.

It is hard to fathom the possibility that this well performing team nearly missed the opportunity to play in the reserves competition all together.  Had it not been for the support off the vast majority of GSL clubs and the forward thinking of the league, this team may well have been terrorising the Men’s 2^nd Division competition for the past two months.

With the season not even half completed the boys from Trafalgar are keeping their early success in perspective.  In fact only minutes after this week’s win the team turned its focus upon preparation for next week’s match against Sale United.  It should be yet another enthusiastic week on the track at Trafalgar as the men’s squad, which now exceeds 30 in number, will do their best to continue what is already an impressive winning streak.
