Entering into their first ever AFL competition, Withcott State School have stunned powerhouse schools OLOSCC and Crow's Nest SS in the girls Primary School Brisbane Lions Cup.
All three schools went through the day with 1 win and 1 loss but it was Withcott SS superior percentage that got them over the line. Previously known as the Carol Berry Cup, it was Crow's Nest who opened their account with a hard fought 4point win over eventual winners Withcott.
Our Lady opened their campaign with a 18point victory over Game 1 winners Crow's Nest; 3.6 (24) to 1.0 (6). The final game saw Withcott dominate Our Lady. OLOSCC were up by 1point at halftime but a strong third and fourth quarter to Withcott, saw them record a 5.4 (34) to 2.3 (15) win.
Withcott's final percentage of 144.1% compared to OLOSCC 97.5% and Crow's Nest SS 64%, will see Withcott who competed in their first ever AFL competition progress to the State Semi Finals in June.
