Victorian Association Championships

Last Sunday, 6 of our Association teams (17U 1&2, 15U 1&2, and 13U 1&2) played in the Central East Zone qualifying tournament of the Victorian Association Championships.

Our teams played against the best of all the other associations in our Zone for a place in the Championship Finals played at the State Netball and Hockey Centre in Parkville. The top two teams in each age group go on to play in the finals.  LYVNA 15U Team 1 finished 2nd in their age group to qualify for the Championship Tournament.

All of our teams performed outstandingly against some very tough opposition.

In the 13's, Team 1 made it through to the semi-finals but unfortunately weren't able to get over the line to take them to Parkville.  Team 2 had a mixed day but had some good wins to finish just out of the finals race.

In the 15's, Team 1 played some outstanding netball to make it through to the grand final.  They probably played they worst game in the grand final to lose by 8 but had already done enough to qualify.  Team 2 played some good netball to scramble into the finals but lost the semi-final.

In the 17's, Team 1 played some very strong netball against some teams with VNL players in them but couldn't make the finals.  Team 2 played some fantastic netball with 4 wins and a draw to show us what they are made of but unfortunatey also didn't make the finals.

Overall, this was an improved performance by our teams on the previous year, which was and improvement on the year before.  Continuous improvement by our players, teams and coaches is all we can ask.

We wish Mick Priestly and his 15U Team 1 all the best in the Championship Finals Tournament on the Sunday 24th June.  Anyone wishing to go and cheer on our 15U-1 is most welcome.
