A midfield master class by Vice-Captain Tasman Myles and leader Tom Wainwright lifted the Crows to their second win of the 2012 season.
The Crows came up against the Alex Hills Bombers, the first clash between the two sides since the Darling Downs knocked off the Bombers in the 2009 decider. With a number of key players out with representative duties and late withdrawals, the Crows went into the game as underdogs.
It took 7minutes before either side were able to register a score on the board as the first score came through Crows midfielder Wainwright, who crumbed superbly to register the first major. With both sides having 5 scoring shots in the first quarter, it was the Crows who were able to take a slender 10point lead into the first break.
From here the Crows were able to stick to their structures and play a strong attacking brand of football. DD was able to stretch the lead out to 23points at the main break, as the Crows kicked 3 goals to 1 in the second term.
With number 1 choice ruckman Tye Hughes out, the Crows dominated hit outs with Geoff Gibb and Lachie Walters giving the Crows first usage of the footy. Darling Downs piled on another 3 goals to 1 in the third quarter and were able to stretch their lead to 35points at the final change.
As they did last week, the Crows stormed home and kick 6goals in the final term as the Crows moved to second on the SEQ Central Conference Ladder. The Crows flew to a 15.9 (99) to 4.11 (35) victory over the Bombers at Keith Surridge Oval.
After their draw with powerhouse club Morningside in round 2 and their win over Kenmore in round 1, the Crows have set up a mouth watering clash with the undefeated Yeronga South Brisbane at Rockville Oval next weekend.
