Charlton v Wycheproof-Narraport
Wycheproof-Narraport signalled their intensions early in the game against the Navy Blues, both side attacking in the early part of the quarter, but it would be the Demons who were finishing off their work better than the home side. Jones featured in many of the scoring opportunities for the Demons as they went to the first break leading by 11-points.
The second quarter from the Demons proved to be the game buster where they kicked 8-goals to the Navy Blues 2-goals. The visitors were teaming well and Charlton had no answers to the dominance of Jones, Coatsworth and Jackson Keane. O’Brien and Judd were trying to lift the home side in this term but were just outgunned by the Demons forwards. At half time the visitors had broken away to a handy 50-point lead.
Charlton turned on a mini revival in the third quarter kicking four majors to reduce the Demons stronghold on the game. Late in the quarter the Demons registered their one and only goal for the quarter. At lemon time the Navy Blues had brought the Demons lead back to 30-points and with a good last term felt they were still a big chance to win the game.
After the final break the visitors put an end to any thoughts Charlton had of over running them, and lock in win number three. It was the Demons mid-field that was causing the Navy Blues big troubles and with Jones marking strongly up forward, any challenge from the home side had been halted. Wyche-Narraport ran the game right out kicking seven last quarter goals and held the Navy Blues to just two for the term.

Boort v Birchip-Watchem
Birchip-Watchem who had shown some promising form in the past couple of weeks finally clocked in for their first win, and leaves Boort as the only side to register a win for 2012.
Both sides were keen to get on the board early but it was the more accurate Bulls who would get a slight edge over the home side just before the first break in play. Birchip-Watchem held a 10-point lead entering the second term and things would only get worse for the magpies. The Bulls took complete control of the game, with seven goals for the term, Boort rallied late to reduce what looked like a match winning margin back to 20-points at the long break. In this quarter the wind played a big factor in the visitors doubling their lead from the first quarter, but they also knew that the Magpies would have that advantage after the break.
With a couple of positional changes Boort took full advantage of the wind assistance and with Easton marking and kicking truly they started to reduce the lead of the Bulls. Manser was being a thorn in the side of the visitors, as he gained many possessions, Hodoras and Gooding had also lifted their work rate and were becoming dangerous around the ground. As the clock ticked down to end the third quarter Boort attacked late and with Easton kicking number five for the day put the home side one straight kick up at the final change. As in recent weeks the Bulls third quarter looked like it might cost them again, and with the Magpies in full flight the last quarter stage was set for a tight finish.
Birchip-Watchem started the term the way the coach had asked and within less than a minute of play the match was all tied up. The Bulls repeated the dose when Tyler brought up both flags, Boort answered through Manser and it was game on again. Eventually the visitors appeared to get a bigger sniff of victory than the Magpies as they banged on four quick goals to set up win number one, with the final margin to be fourteen points.
Best for the Bulls, R. Vesikuru, J. Noonan, S. Fiora, J. Tyler, C. Hall and Z. Holmes.

Goals: R. Easton 7, P. Manser 4, N. Gooding 2, T. Rhook, D. Sipthorp, A. Jackson 1 each.
Wedderburn v Donald
In the opening term both sides struggled for scoring opportunities, Rose was first on the board for the Redbacks, Barnes followed suit, before Bell brought up the Royals first major. It was fierce contest from the first bounce with both sides flexing their muscles in what was an uninteresting start to the game. At the quarter time break the Redbacks held sway by one straight kick.
Donald went into attack early, but inaccuracy in front of goal may have proved costly later in the day. Wedderburn through Barnes (2) and Herdman gave the home side a bit of breathing space before Jackson Hogan chimed in for two goals late in the term to bring the Redbacks lead at half time back to just 8-points, but the Redbacks lead had come at a cost with Sam Barnes suffering a leg injury, leaving the ground before the main break and would not return.
Good sides don’t take long to break the back of opposition sides and this is what the Redbacks did in the third quarter. Holden started the action with a big goal which fired up Benaim and Rose who both kicked two goals in quick succession as the Redbacks pulled away from the Royals. Givney and Blake Grant kicked two late goals for the visitors but these were answered by Last and Perry and the Redbacks would go to the final break holding a comfortable six goal lead.
Wedderburn made good use of the ball out of the middle where Strange and Maatman had been involved in a good duel all day, Terhell’s pass to Benaim started their final quarter in good fashion, and this was followed by two goals to Herdman as the margin drifted further out of the reach of the visitors. Dunstan marked strong and converted as did Blake Grant before the home side answered from Weston and Rose. Not giving in the Royals, Harberger and Grant put a stop to the Redbacks goal kicking, but it was only short lived as Herdman chimed in for another two goals to bring his days tally to five, four coming in the last term, in what was a best on ground performance from the Redbacks forward. At full time the Redbacks had finished on well to take the game by 53-points. Donald although well beaten showed some good signs and will be a handful for opposition teams in the coming weeks.
Best for the Redbacks: B. Herdman, B. Rose, J. DeAraugo, R. McHugh, B. Strange and C. Perry.
Goals: B. Herdman 5, B. Rose 4, S. Barnes, D. Benaim 3, C. Perry, L. Last, C. Weston and N. Holden 1 each.
Best for Donald: T. Bell, L. Anderson, B. Jennings, K. Harberger, T. Grant, B. Grant.
Goals; B. Grant 3, R. Givney, J. Hogan 2, R. Harberger, T. Bell, N. Dunstan 1 each.
