This is the first time that a Darling Downs player has been named captain of the pathway team for Darling Downs players in the Western Taipans. An even greater feat when you consider that 80% of the 2012 team are Brisbane based players. Obviously the Taipans coaching staff highly rate Josh's ability to lead and the direction he gives players on the playing feild.
Stahlhuts leadership qualities were first identified when he was named in the 2010 U15 Queensland Heat squad. Since then Josh represented the Darling Downs in the U16 South Country Championships in 2011 and was a part of the Kookaburras team last year. Josh is also a vital member of this years U18 Crows team and part of the leadership group of that team.
Whilst the Taipans went down 3.5.23 to 7.7.49 in their opening game last Sunday, Stahlhut kicked 1 goal and was named in the best players alongside fellow Darling Downs representative in Tim Tate who amassed 10 effective tackles for the game.
Other Darling Downs players in the Taipans squad are Corey Bellert, Jacob Schaumann and Sam Cooper. The Taipans play their next game against PNG this Saturday 5th May at Zillmere AFC 12:30pm.
All the best to all players
