Round Six will see the introduction of one game from the junior fixtures pencilled in as the game of the round and the must see game for the weekend.
This week the game of the round is the Under12s clash;
Dalby Swans Vs. South Toowoomba Bombers
It will be the 1st placed Swans play the 3rd placed Bombers at Owen Street Oval in this game of the round. Dalby are coming off an impressive 32goal win over the Demons which included an individual bag of 17goals to young gun Tom Matthews. At Harristown Park the Bombers flew to a 12 goal win but could have recorded an even bigger result as the young Souths side kicked 12.19.
Tom Reardon has been the go to man for the Bombers and was best on ground against the Hawks while slotting 4majors of his own.
Both sides also had easy wins in round 4 and will be excited about this tough contest. Reardon, Tann, Schaumann and Farquharson are the fab four for the Bombers and set up a lot of their sides drive. Tom Matthews is the key to the Swans but is well supported by Ferguson, Peltz and McKee for the opening rounds.
If Bombers are to upset the Swans in Dalby, Reardon should get the job on Matthews. A battle of the Toms, whoever can get on top in this dual will go a long way in deciding the outcome of the game. Matthews ability to kick large bags of goals each week along with his knack of being at every contest, has proven to be a match winner every round this year.
Reardon is a gifted left footer, with precision kicking and natural leadership, can this be enough to upset the Swans at home who haven’t lost a game in a couple of seasons at Owen Street.
Interesting game, this is well worth the trip out to the Western town of Dalby. Dalby and South Toowoomba also battle it out in the u8s, 10s, 14s and 16s today.
