Game One: Nomads v Bulldogs
The Nomads get to back up their huge home ground win from last week over the Kangaroos by hosting the Bulldogs. After their round 1 loss to the Swans the Nomads have been in outstanding form. The win against the Cats got their season back on track and the win against the Rooboys showed that they are a force in this years competition. The Bulldogs had an honourable loss agains the Cats in round 1 before they ran into a rampaging Saints unit. Last week they went within a kick of beating the Swans so their form line isn't that bad considering they haven't won a game. But traveling up the highway to Armidale is going to be a big ask of them. The one thing they have been struggling with over the last few years is numbers on the ground and this is going to be their down fall this time. The Nomads have been sharing their goals around and this is the sign of a good team and the best part is it frees Westy up to play in the midfield. The Nomads have always struggled whether to play Westy up forward or in the midfield as he is just as dangerous in either position but right know I think he would be greater value in the midfield.
Tip: I just can't go past the Nomads and they will get up by 73 points.
Game 2: Saints v Swans
The Swans have had a interesting start to the season having a good win against the Nomads in round 1 before getting a big reality check the following week against the Kangaroos. Last week they managed to get just over the line against the Bulldogs and it will be interesting to see if Rick Watt can get them up for their biggest challange of the year. On the other hand the Saints are running like Black Caviar, just plodding along out in front of their games before putting the hammer down and just running away with it in the last quarter. Mike Gould is on fire having kicked bags of 9 and 10 goals in the last 2 weeks. But of course he is only finishing off the good work from the Saints midfielders. He is playing traditionaly the hardest position on the ground, Centre Half Forward. And with the likes of Nick Baird, Jason Gobbert, Garry Hadland and youngster Hamish Bird around him the Saints have the best forward line in the TAFL. The Swans stars that helped win the 2009 grand final against the Saints in Inverell are getting a bit longer in the tooth and hopefully their youngster will start stepping up a bit. But the fact that the Saints have kicked over twenty goals a game so far this year means not only have the Swans midfielders got to work harder but their backline will is going to be under massive siege and their lack of height down will hurt them.
Tip: The Saints will contiue on their merry way beating the Swans by 89 points.
