THE Warwick Credit Union Redbacks could not contain the intensity to hold off a stronger finishing Coolaroo in a game that was up for grabs until the last 10 minutes.
Coolaroo 10. 12. (72) defeated the Redbacks 8. 5. (53).
The game itself was played in the right spirit and all players coming off the paddock at the end of play were totally exhausted.
Coolaroo led from start to finish with little in it all day.
Another great game from Jason Wright has again shown his leadership qualities both on and off the field and with tremendous support from Brendan Iles, Tony Chandler, Andrew Bardsley and Clinton McErvale the game could well have gone the other way.
The older heads at Coolaroo stood up to be counted at the death when needed and the less experienced young guns at the Reddies could not keep up the pressure.
The wet, muddy and gusty conditions were more in the favour of Coolaroo, but take nothing away from Coolaroo - they are a good team with a lot of depth and experience.
All in all it was a great effort from the WCU Redbacks and their season is far from over at this stage.
The lack of full attendance at training is starting to show.
Those who are training are getting stronger as the season goes on and those who are not attending training are fading out far too early in the game.
Another hard game is expected next week against USQ in Toowoomba and with injuries to Jason Hoole (ribs), Kurt Heier (hand) and Jason Wright (severe concussion) training is now essential.
