TOOWOOMBA CHRONICLE - Monday 16th April 2012
TOOWOOMBA Tigers gave Coolaroo a lesson in what it takes to win a premiership in round three of the AFL Darling Downs season at Rockville Park on Saturday.
In the showdown between the defending premiers and pre-season champions, it was the Tigers who flexed their premiership muscles.
The Roos were kept scoreless in the first quarter and never recovered as the Tigers powered home 12.15 (87) to 6.7 (43).
It was an excellent team performance from the Tigers who were happy to share the workload as they handed Coolaroo its second straight defeat.
South Toowoomba also made it three wins from three games with a comprehensive 15.9 (99) to 7.12 (54) victory over University.
Trent Saxelby and Keith Webb bagged four goals each as the Bombers got some revenge for last season's elimination final loss at the hands of the Cougars.
Meanwhile, Highfields continued their perfect start to the season with a 111-point thrashing of Lockyer Valley.
Lions captain Zachary Chimes was unstoppable, kicking eight goals in the 20.11 (131) to 3.2 (20) triumph.
And Warwick recorded its first win for 2012 with a narrow 9.12 (66) to (8.12) victory over Dalby.
Last year's grand finalists had to work overtime to hold out the desperate Swans who proved they still have plenty to offer in the top grade.
