Here we are the start of a brand new season and it kicks off with a bang!
The 2011 Grand-Final replay will headline the opening round of the Allied Pickfords Cup as the Warwick Redbacks take on the reigning premiers the Toowoomba Tigers at Gold Park. A win first up is what all sides are targeting and no more than these powerhouse teams.
Three times Holman medallist Brendan Iles will be the focal point of the Reddies game plan but new coach Jason Wright will be looking to Sinkins, Heier and the Millard duo to step up in this vital round 1 clash.
Warwick will have to be mindful of the 2011 Grand-Final best on ground Luke Adams who tore them to shreds in the ‘11’ decider. Add to this the recruitment of former u18 Crow’s premiership Captain Steve Harbort and seasoned players in Michael O’Donoghue, Dan Farr and Andrew Wickes; we have an absolute blockbuster on our hands.
Can the new rookie coach Jason Wright take the 4points first up or will two time premiership coach Andrew Farr guide the Tigers to the all important first win of the year?
In the other clashes of the Allied Pickfords Cup South Toowoomba travel to the Lockyer Valley to face the Demons, Highfields are looking to roar against University at Baker Street. While the Goondiwindi Hawks travel to Gold Park to play the Roos.
There are no Reserve games this week, though you will only have to wait until next week for the first bounce!
