Over the last month, Peter Jackson VFL Clubs have been asked to nominate up to three players from their club for possible inclusion in the inaugural AFL Victoria VFL Academy intake. During this period, AFL Victoria’s VFL Academy Coach/Mentor Nathan Bibby has been attending Peter Jackson VFL practice matches to see the potential of possible nominations, and to help with selecting the final participants.
The AFL Victoria VFL Academy has been established to enhance the talent pool existing in the Peter Jackson VFL competition. The Academy will provide a platform to observe and monitor a select group of players exposed to elements of the AFL Victoria Academy structure, philosophy and resources.
The AFL Victoria VFL Academy will complement existing programs across VFL Clubs and AFL Victoria, providing an accelerated learning environment to develop a player’s potential to possibly be selected by an AFL Club.
Players selected for the Academy will receive an Individual Development Program as well as individual coaching/mentoring, Medical screening, Nutritional education, GPS tracking, Welfare and personal development services and access to Combine testing.
The VFL Academy squad will be selected by AFL Victoria in consultation with AFL Clubs, and will be announced on Friday March 30 via the Peter Jackson VFL website.
