It has been a big start to 2012, with a record 900 school students from across the region signing onto the ever popular NAB AFL Auskick program in term 1.
The previous "school term" record was 704 (set in 2011, term 1) but AFL Queensland staff have been working overtime across the Darling Downs to see more boys and girls playing Australian Rules Football. Auskick has reached all parts of the region with the program up and running in the Lockyer Valley, Dalby, Pittsworth, Texas, Inglewood, Goondiwindi, Warwick and Toowoomba.
"The hard work begins now", explained Development Officer Jeff Neumann, "We have worked hard to get the 900 students doing the program, now we will work even harder with transition of Auskickers to club AFL to boost local junior numbers."
AFL Queensland are expecting to double that number (900) by the end of the school term 3. Auskick centres are wrapping up over the next 3weeks but new centres will be starting soon. To find your nearest Auskick centre go to www.aflauskick.com.au
