The Toowoomba East Stingers are the first club in Toowoomba and the second across the Darling Downs to be officially recognised as an accredited Quality Club.
The AFL’s nationally recognised Quality Club Program was rolled out across the state last year and rewards clubs who have outstanding administrative processes.
The program offers three levels of achievement for clubs with the Bronze level being the first, allowing clubs to strive towards Silver and eventually Gold status.
The Stingers Bronze accreditation recognises that the club operates in a safe, family friendly environment; runs to sound financial principles and ensures that all volunteers are appropriately qualified.
President of the club, Colin Duke said it is a great thing for the club to be acknowledged, and consolidates all of the hard work they have put in over the years.
“Since the club was founded in 1997 the club has always focused on providing a solid base to allow kids in Toowoomba to play football”, Duke said.
With the Silver and Gold level criteria being finalised in the coming months, the club will be striving to greater levels of excellence, ensuring the club becomes an even better place to play and watch footy.
The Stingers are further promoting their quality club by offering new U14 & U16 players the opportunity to win one of five full scholarships for the 2012 season.
Pittsworth-Milmerran were the first club to be officially recognised across the league, acheiving the accolade just a couple of weeks ago.
