KENDALL CUP 2012
Sale United Football Club will host the 21st running of ‘Kendall Cup’ this Saturday, 18th February at the Godfrey Baldwin Reserve, Raglan Street Sale.
The annual tournament is held in memory of former teammate and clubman, Jamie Kendall, who was tragically taken as a young man. 2012 sees seven clubs vying for honours at the end of the day with the Grand Final taking place at 4:30pm. Warragul United, Traralgon Olympians, Moe United, Newborough/Yallourn, Noble Park Drina, Traralgon City and Sale United will all play a round robin of four games each to determine the top two who will play off for the Cup. Presentation of trophies and individual medals will be from 6pm. Guest of honour will be Jamie’s mum, Elaine, who will present the awards.
Sale will field a squad made up of experience and youth with some new faces to also don the green and white. 2011 Club Best & Fairest player, Ashley Ross, and League 2nd Div Best & Fairest, Jon Piefke, will take to the field alongside proven quality players such as Romi Bitar, Tommy Nguyen, Brad Baker, Callum Markovic, Chris Richardson, Kristian Phillips, Ross McWhirter, and Raymond Allred.
Games kick off on two different pitches from 9am with free entry for all spectators with full canteen facilities available.
All current and new players aged fifteen and over are welcomed at the Club with Sale fielding Senior, Reserve and the newly founded Youth division in the Gippsland Soccer League this year. Training is from 6pm each Tuesday and Thursday night. The GSL Fixtures will commence on Sunday 15th April. Prior to that Sale will take on Newborough/Yallourn in the first round of the Battle Of Britain Cup on 18th March.
