The Pittsworth-Milmerran Power is the first club on the Darling Downs to be officially recognised as an accredited Quality Club.
The AFL’s nationally recognised Quality Club Program was rolled out across the state last year and rewards clubs who have outstanding administrative processes.
The program offers three levels of achievement for clubs with the Bronze level being the first, allowing clubs to strive towards Silver and eventually Gold status.
Pittsworth’s Bronze accreditation recognises that the club operates in a safe, family friendly environment; runs to sound financial principles and ensures that all volunteers are appropriately qualified.
Sharyn Carnahan said it is a huge thing for the club to be acknowledged, let alone the first AFL Club on the Downs to be accredited.
“We’re super happy with the result and to be accredited shows the work our volunteers put in and that our club environment is something to be proud of,” Carnahan said.
With the Silver and Gold level criteria being finalised in the coming months, the club will be striving to greater levels of excellence, ensuring the club becomes an even better place to play and watch footy.
The accreditation is yet another boost for the expanding club after they announced last week they would be fielding a senior team in the AFL Darling Downs competition for the first time in 2012.
