They were once the "easy beats", but not anymore. Canterbury AFL is now the spiritual home of AFL in New Zealand and it shows on the Park. They are the best dressed, best managed and best coached team in New Zealand. The standard of the local league has lifted in recent years and this has driven an improvement at club level. The fierce competition during the CAFL season meant that players were accustomed to intense pressure.
Congratulations to manager, Steve Langridge, coach Harry Peterson, Assistant Coach Wayne Sullivan and Captain Steven Howard, for leading the Cobras so admirably. All players in the team performed at their best and can hold their heads high. They did their region proud. Well done to our youngsters, Kyle Smith, Callum McKnzie and Josh Robles McGill who were not over awed by the occasion and earned national selection.
