The International Rules Series is almost underway with both Australia and Ireland preparing in training sessions this week for the upcoming Test series.
Despite the Australian team changes earlier this week with Melbourne player Colin Sylvia dropped from the squad all looked good during a beach training session at Torquay Monday morning.
Etihad Stadium in Melbourne will host the first game on Friday the 28th of October followed by the second game being played at Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast on the 4th of November.
Locals are thrilled to have the second match played on Queensland soil with the added excitement of Gold Coast SUNS boy Zac Smith set to play in his first International Rules Series.
This morning Smith said that training is going very well, “Skills with the round ball have improved and we are looking forward to this afternoon’s practice match against a GAA representative side”.
Earlier today Melbourne skipper Brad Green was announced the 2011 Australian captain of the International Rules Series and will lead the team to the St Kilda Sea Baths for a recovery session tomorrow.
Queenslanders can support Australia in their own territory with tickets available from Ticketmaster for $25 unreserved seating or through Metricon Stadium’s website.
