Rising star and 11 year old Tom Matthews was the main destroyer in the Swannies win over the Bombers in the Preliminary Final as he booted four majors to bring the reigning premiers season to an end.
Matthews booted the first goal of the game, as Harry Milford followed shortly with his first major of the morning stating Dalby’s cause early. Easton and Dignan were impressive for Dalby along with Cramer, as were Krause, Mills and Flannery for the Bombers in the opening exchange.
The second term was all one way, as Matthews added another two majors to his tally, as Dalby stretched their lead to 23points at the main break. Verrall stood tall in the demolition for the Bombers as Cramer, Cook, Easton and Milford were the standouts for the young Swans.
Jacob Verrall gave the Bombers a glimmer of hope early in the third with his snap at goal but majors to Milford, Wall, Dignan and Matthews put the result with in doubt. The final goal in the quarter from Matthews took his morning total to four as the Swans took a remarkable 40point lead into the final term.
Goals to MacGillivray and Wall sealed and booked the Swans a Grand-Final showdown with Coolaroo. To their credit the Bombers never gave up and were able to goal through under12 top up player Ryan Neumann.
