New Junior Basketball Challenge a Hit

Six junior basketball teams formed from Under 12 squads of three local junior football clubs competed in the Junior Basketball Challenge conducted at the Ice House last Friday night.

The competition was a success and well received by parents and players.

Teams played in their respective football uniforms and were coached by club members. Basketball Mount Gambier volunteer referees and bench officials helped out and hence contributed to the success of the new idea.

Organisers of the night were pleased with the way in which officials and players from the competing football clubs embraced the fun night of basketball and supported each team in their five games.

Bullies of East Gambier won the Award for the night. Other teams which were involved in the Challenge were West Blue and Red, South Slammers and Shooting Stars and Dogs of East Gambier.

It is planned to conduct a similar night for junior netballers later in the month and make the Challenges annual events.
