This game was always going to be a cracker, as they played each other twice durign teh Home and Away Season, with one win each, and a bit of history from 2 years ago, meeting in the same game in similar circumstances.
TEDAS won the toss and were the first to score with a behind. Both teams were having trouble penetrating the other's defence, and after about 6 minutes, as a resultant free kick down the ground, Dylan Golding was able to register Glengarry's first score, a goal and give his team a boost. It wasn't long after that Dylan attacked the ball and was rewarded for head high contact in front of goal, and slotted his and his team's second goal. Glengarry started making the most of their opporunities, as TEDAS would have the ball in their forward half for 70% of the opening quarter. TEDAS's Ricky Cochrane got a chance to run and carry the ball from the back half, finding Mitch Membrey, who was able to get the ball onto Kade "The Flea" Duncan, who played on immediately to register their first goal of the game. Not long after this, Jye Neilson from TEDAS collected the ball near goals and kicked truly to give TEDAS the lead by a point at the first change.
In the second quarter, the League's leading goal kicker, Brayden Duve, playing under an injury cloud, started to become more of a target for his team, getting a mark on the goal line, and quickly handballing on to a team mate, where the ball ended up with Dylan Golding, who kicked his third of the game and becoming a bit of a headache for the TEDAS defence. It wasn't long before Duve had the ball again after a free kick down field, and he kicked his first, extending Glengarry's lead to 10 points. TEDAS were creating chances for themselves, but were unable to kick truly, adding 6 points for the term, and trailing by 7 points at the half.
Dylan Golding kicks his fourth goal of the game after about four minutes of play, maintaing Glen's lead. TEDAS took the ball forward not long after with some good field kicking, and Zac Kilgower was found on a good lead, and kicked truly to give the TEDAS kids a lift and spark. Cameron Graham, League Best & Fairest Winner, was keen to have an impact for his team, and took a strong pack mark in front of goal and slotted his first for the day, and giving them a 16 point buffer. TEDAS's Zac Kilgower chimed in with another goal after receiving a free kick by playing in front, and with the ball coming back into TEDAS's forward line after the restart, little Jack Kesper popped the ball through and reduced the margin back to four points. Cameron Graham had the last scoring shot of the quarter, as a long kick after two running bounces was just off line, leaving his team up 45 to 40 with a quarter to play.
This was anyone's game, and with both teams having players injured, it was going to be tough! Kade "The Flea" Duncan demonstrated his smarts, as what looked like being a point for TEDAS, was stopped by him just in time, and while under pressure, he managed to kick the ball off the ground and put TEDAS in front for the first time in a while. Glengarry responded quickly, with the ball travelling forward and finding none other than Dylan Golding after a good mark, who goaled, and another lead change. Mid way through the quarter, TEDAS managed another goal, tieing the scores up thanks to a lucky snap to the "The Flea". Zac Kilgower had another shot but was off line with a point, but it also meant his team was now in front. "The Flea" Duncan takes a mark from a quick kick forward, and with his trusty left foot, slots it through to extend the lead to 7 points. With time running out, Glenngarry get the ball forward after the restart, but are unable to get the important goal, with Glengarry rushing a behind, and just a goal the difference. The pressure was starting to get to Glengarry, as two free kicks and a 50 metre penalty put TEDAS Co-Captain, Riley Loprese, within kicking distance, and he kicked straight to increase the lead to 12 points and seal the game in a repeat of 2009.
TEDAS now get a crack at Combined Saints, looking to reverse the result from 2009 and win a Premiership in 2011.
