This game between Pax Hill and TEDAS started off very tight, with neither team able to penetrate the backlines of each other. The first score of the game was abehind after about 5-6 minutes of play to TEDAS. The first goal of the game came after a strong mark by Lachlan Pawson of TEDAS against two opponents, who centred the ball with a long kick forward, and after a bit of a scramble and another quick kick forward, Mitchell Dykes found himself with the ball and kicked truly. Pax Hill responded, with good run from the backline by Blake Aurish, forcing the ball forward, with the ball falling into the hands of Josh Galea, who kicked Pax Hill's first goal just before quarter time, to keep the margin to only one point.
The second quarter saw the ball travel end to end for both teams without reward, as the backlines did a fantastic job of keeping their opponents quiet, repelling attacks and preventing scoring opportunities. Each team managed one scoring shot for the term, Pax a point, and TEDAS a Captain's goal to Josh Heard, extedning their lead to 6 points.
Pax Hill came out firing after the long break, and it wasn't long before thay kicked the first goal of this quarter to Charlie Martin, leveling the scores at 2-3-15 each. It was some time before either team looked like scoring again, and it was TEDAS, whose Thomas Northe had a quick snap, kicking a goal out of nothing to put TEDAS back in front. Josh Heard had a purple patch of 2 minutes late in the quarter, taking some fine marks and having three shots at goal, but unable to kick straight, which meant the score at three quarter time was 3-6 to 2-3.
Both coaches encouraged their kids to keep going, as the game was still there to be won, and it was TEDAS who scored first in the last quarter, with Josh Heard kicking truly to extend the lead to 15 points. The Pax Hill boys lifted their intensity and kept on trying, and a good smother by Charlie Martin and subsequent free kick to Pax Hill, saw Josh Galea end up with the ball and kick his second for Pax and keep them in it. As time ticked away, it was TEDAS who were next to score, with big Tom Fleming taking a strong mark and kicking a goal to put the game out of reachh of Pax Hill. To their credit, the Pax players continued to put in until the final siren, but TEDAS were too strong today and won 5-8 to 3-5, and booking a spot in the Grand Final against West End next Saturday.
