The annual AFL Darling Downs Junior Presentation night was held on Saturday night in front of a 300 + audience at Harristown State High School.
AFL Queensland staff hosted the night as AFL Queensland CEO Mr. Richard Griffiths was the special guest on the evening and spoke about the importance of volunteers and players on continuing their fantastic work on the Darling Downs.
To kick the night off the volunteers and coaches were recognised for their contribution to AFL on the Downs and were thanked immenseley on their hard work. Award winners:
Auskick Volunteer of the Year: Ross Savill (University Cougars (Rangeville SS + USQ AFC))
Auskick Rookie Coordinator of the Year: Travis Mitchell (Chinchilla NAB AFL Auskick Centre)

Junior Club Volunteer of the Year: Janine Smith (South Toowoomba) & Jeannie Healy (Lockyer Valley)
Junior League Volunteer of the Year: Graeme Carnahan (President)
Female Coach of the Year: Debbie Smith (Pittsworth)
Junior Coach of the Year: Jeremy Sheldrick (Toowoomba East)
Youth Coach of the Year: Andrew Smith (South Toowoomba)
It was a big year for the Darling Downs with 643 registered juniors, Auskick on target for a record 1700+ participants and also 6 players from the region going onto State duties. A player from the under 12, 14 and 16 competitions were named as the regions Representative player of the year.
Under 12 Representative Player of the Year: Brendon Shelton (Coolaroo)
Under 14 Representative Player of the Year: Sam Flannery (South Toowoomba)
Under 16 Representative Player of the Year: Tye Hughes (Dalby)
A handful of representatives awards were also handed out from players from the u14 and u16 sides that contested at Country Championships this year.
Kicking off the official awards for the Junior home and away season, were the announcement of the 2011 Leading Goal kickers for each of the age competitions.
Under 12 Leading Goal Kicker: Tom Matthews (Dalby)
Under 14 Leading Goal KickeR: Harry Milford (Dalby)
Under 16 Leading Goal Kicker: Jack Rockliff (Dalby)
I new record was set by the under12 Leading goal kicker who booted 123goals for the season, eclipsing the old record of 117 set in 2008 by University's Aidan Anderson, a great feat in itself.
Tom continued his good season form, when he was crowned the 2011 AFL Darling Downs Juniors under 12 Fairest and Best player, along with fellow Swan Dan Mauch in the under 14s and Souths Tom Wainwright stopped the Dalby clean sweep by taking out the under 16 B'n'F.
