South Toowoomba ran out big winners in the under 16 Elimination Final as Toowoomba East couldn't match the class of the Bombers in the 116point defeat.
Schaumann, Walters and Myles kicked 18 goals between them as Bombers ran riot at Harristown Park. Tasman Myles kicked 5 first quarter goals to help the Bombers to an impressive first quarter margin in front of a large home crowd. It was a high scoring opening term with the Bombers booting 7 majors to the Stingers 3. Jones and Stark were impressive for Easts, while Verrall, Wainwright and Creeks created havoc for Toowoomba East.
The second term started the same way the first ended with Bombers piling on the goals, putting 6 majors on the board by half time. At the half time break Bombers held a 62point lead, putting the result out of the hands of the Stingers side.
If Toowoomba East were to stage a mega comeback, the premiership quarter was the quarter to do so, but this was not to be. Souths flexed their muscles and kicked another 7 goals to stretch the margin well and truly out of the Stingers hands. Stackleberg and Evans were the stand-outs in the onslaught and stood tall when their side needed them most. Souths Captain Tom Wainwright stamped his authority on the game with clearance after clearance and his hard running.
The Final term saw the Stingers stem the flow for a while but the Bombers proved to strong and ran out 116point victors. South Toowoomba 24.16 (160) def. Toowoomba East 6.8 (44). Souths will now enjoy the week off as they will play the loser of Dalby v Cougars in 2 weeks time for a spot in this years Grand-Final.
