Tim Lincoln of Our Lady of the Southern Cross College in Dalby has been crowned the 2011 Coles AFL Schools Primary Ambassador of the year for Queensland.
Tim has worked tirelessly with AFL development staff over the past few years and has this year been rewarded for his hard work. Not only does he receive the honour and recognition of being named as the 2011 Queensland Primary School Ambassador of year but will now receive a all expenses paid trip to week 1 of the Toyota AFL Finals series in Melbourne.
With Our Lady of the Southern Cross College located in the League strong town of Dalby, Tim has done a terrific job, as Australian Rules Football continues to grow in Western Queensland.
In 2011 Tim has help organise with AFL Queensland the Dalby Primary School competition which is into its fifth year and in particular in 2011 Tim had 12 teams competing in the 15 team competition. Lincoln also organised secondary students to umpire the games through-out the 8 week competition. Also adding to having 12 teams participate in the Friday afternoon competition, Tim also had OLOSCC enter teams into AFL competitions such as the Carol Berry Cup, Gold Coast SUNS Cup, Northern States Cup and Jonathan Brown Cup in 2011. In 3 of these 4 competitions, the school went onto the State Semi-Finals.
Tim also had a hand in having the NAB AFL Auskick run for the first time at the school in term 1 of this year. In one of the most remarkable feats Tim organised to establish and develop the schools very own AFL field by sourcing out his own goal posts, so that the local schools Independent Cup team could play home games from the schools oval.
You would agree that Tim is a worthy recipient of this award and hopefully will continue to work with the AFL schools programs in developing the sport further at Our Lady of the Southern Cross College.
