It's been a fast rise to be known as the regions powerhouse AFL school but St Ursula's College have proven they deserve that title as they go into next weeks Youth Girls Cup.
St Ursula's current winning streak is 23 games across 2 Darling Downs AFL schools competitions (Jonathan Brown Cup and Youth Girls Cup). Their streak stretches back to the 2009 Youth Girls Cup carnival, where they made their debut at any AFL school carnival. That year they defeated Downlands College in an epic Grand-Final by 2points and from that maiden win they haven't looked back.
In 2009 they made it as far as the State Semi-finals and have gone that one step further every year. 2010 the made the 2010 State Final in the Youth Girls Cup and in 2011 they participated in the Jonathan Brown Cup and went onto the State Final where they became the regions first ever State Champions.
Now St Ursula's focus is doing the double, taking out this years State Final of the Youth Girls Cup. St Ursula's have a number of key players who have played pivotal roles in their success of the College.
KEY PLAYERS: T.Sullivan - Plays in the ruck for SUC, dominates the hit-outs and roves her own footy, followed by her extreme tackling. K.Rogers - CHB, major role in the success of SUC with her ability to read the play and ability to dispose of the footy on both sides of her body better then most established footballers. M.McGorm - Quality onballer who doesn't stop running and is a natural competitor, raw skills but wins every one on one contest.
Youth Girls Cup will run on Tuesday 2nd August at Rockville Oval and the first games kick off from 10am.
