THE Sydney Swans wish to advise that Byron Sumner has taken leave from the club for an indefinite period, and has been released from all playing and training commitments.
Byron (pictured) has been struggling for some time with the commitments and demands of AFL football. Following discussions between the club and Byron, it was agreed it was in his best interests to take time away from the AFL environment.
In the short term Byron intends to head back to his hometown of Adelaide. The club will remain in regular contact during this period and provide Byron any support he needs.
Byron was selected in the 2009 national draft (pick 54) and has played one senior game with the club.
