Twenty-two girls from all over Victoria have been added to the Victorian Under 18 Youth Girls State Squad following yesterday's State screening. Nearly sixty girls were put through a gruelling fitness session by Calder Cannons fitness staff before Victorian Youth Girls Head Coach, Andrew Jago, tested out their football skills through drills and a practice match. The aim of the session was to identify girls to be invited to join the State Squad in late July. From there, the girls will undertake three weeks of selection training before the final two Victorian teams are selected.
AFL Victoria (Victoria, AFLV Development) will again take two teams to contest the AFL National Youth Girls Under 18 Championships on the Gold Coast from September 19-24.
State squad training dates
- Monday July 25, 6pm, JJ Holland Park, Kensington Rd, Kensington
