Over 200 Auskickers from across the Darling Downs region have experienced the excitement and thrill of playing at the Gabba and Metricon Stadiums during the NAB AFL Auskick halftime grid games programs.
AFL Queensland offers regional Auskick centre participants the opportunity of playing out on the grounds at halftime of Brisbane Lions and Gold Coast SUNS games. Participants from Toowoomba, Dalby, Lockyer Valley, Warwick and Pittsworth have been given a once in a lifetime experience to play NAB AFL Auskick in front of 25,000 plus throughout 2011.
“It’s a huge thrill for the boys and girls from a number of Auskick centres from across the region to experience the buzz of running out in these world class stadiums in front of massive crowds to play in the Auskick games,” Darling Downs Development Officer Jeff Neumann said. “Also this is something they will never forget and will tell for years to come.”
“Most of the children get really nervous before they run out but once they are out there, you can’t take the smile off their face and that is awesome to see,” Neumann explained.
Not only do Auskick participants get the opportunity but so do the centre coordinators and parents of the participants get to help out and come out onto the field also.
