Young Roo’s remain undefeated
Coolaroo under 12’s remain undefeated after 8 rounds of local junior fixtures after convincingly recording a 20.15 (135) to nil win over the bottom of the table Goondiwindi Hawks on Saturday morning. The young Roo’s side kicked away with a blistering seven goal to zero opening term, as Aston, Ross and Southey were creative in the 20 goal win.
The reigning premiers Coolaroo will face the third placed South Toowoomba Bombers in round 9 fixtures. The Bombers accounted for the 8th place Demons in a massive win at Harristown Park winning 26.16 (172) to 0.0 (0). The Bombers also opened up with a goal fest, scoring 9 majors in the opening term. A big win by the Highfields Lions over the Toowoomba East Stingers has entrenched the Lions inside the top 4 as the season reaches halfway this weekend. The Dalby Swans also kept the competition one watch as they also recorded a big win in their round 8 clash at Slade Park over the Warwick Redbacks who currently sit 7th in the Under 12 division.
Demons take down reigning premiers
The Lockyer Valley Demons have thumped the reigning under 14 premiers the South Toowoomba Bombers at Harristown Park. Lockyer Valley recording their first win of the year 16.11 (107) to 5.5 (35) over the third placed Bombers. Demons key forwards Hughes (6) and Bawden (4) kicked 10 goals between them. The win keeps the Demons in touch with the 9th place Redbacks and the 8th placed Power.
Pittsworth Power were able to get the points against University Cougars at home as the Power play at their best to get their second win of the season, recording a 23.8 (146) to 3.1 (19) win over Cougars. This is the Powers 2nd win in three weeks and will welcome back representative player Jackson Kennedy against the Lockyer Valley as they look for back to back wins. Coolaroo’s younger players stood up as they were too good for the Goondiwindi Hawks at Gold Park. The Roo’s were without a number of players due to representative duties but were able to record a 16.9 (105) to 2.1 (13). Top of the table Dalby were outstanding in their 105 point win over the Warwick Redbacks at Slade and an impressive 5 goal third quarter to the Highfields Lions proved the difference as the Lions roared over the Toowoomba East Stingers.
Dalby kick record number of goals
The Dalby Swans have kicked 54 goals in their round 8 clash against the Warwick Redbacks, as Dalby recorded a massive 340point victory over the tireless Redbacks. State player Tye Hughes was prolific as was Country Kookaburra’s Sam Rockliff and Lachlan Thomas.
University continued their good form defeating Coolaroo at Gold Park 22.8 (140) to 1.1 (7) as Pyke and O’Dea ran amuck all day. While across town South Toowoomba accounted for a determined Lockyer Valley at Harristown Park 17.14 (116) to 7.10 (52). Three goals from Demons midfield Huth wasn’t enough to keep up with the high flying Bombers.
