The Sunday Southern Footy Show continues this week with three special guests:
Jamie Pi has been an instrumental part of bringing the game to a whole new audience. Commentating in Mandarin, Jamie describes the game with equal measures of knowledge and passion, and in a language that 882 million people can understand.
"Jamie's a beauty," says football commentator Gerard Whately. "I always have the view that a sports call, in any language around the world is instantly identifiable. And I reckon you can pick that (Jamie's commentary) as a footy call immediately. The excitement on the names, and then the call of 'Goal!' - that's the international language."
Jamie will be joined by respected Southern Dragons club president Tri Thoi to discuss the broadening appeal of the game to new generations and cultures.
Also in the studio will be Tiger legend Francis Bourke. One of the most respected footballers of any era, Bourke played 300 games for the Richmond Football Club. A key figure in a halcyon period at Richmond, Bourke is a five-time premiership player who was honoured with selection in the AFL's team of the century.
Sunday Southern Footy Show - every Sunday from 11am to 12pm on 88.3 Southern FM.
