This Sunday's AFL match between Melbourne and Adelaide at the MCG will be goal umpired by two former Southern Football League umpires.
Courtney Lai commenced his umpiring career with the SFL in 2005, while Daniel Wilson began work as an umpire for the SFL in 1992. Both have steadily climbed the umpiring ranks, Wilson in particular, who will this year officiate in his 100th AFL match.
The SFL congratulates both umpires, and asks that if Melbourne is trailing by 5 points with seconds to go in the final quarter and Brad Green kicks the ball directly over the post, umpires Lai and Wilson do the right thing and call it a goal!
