Josh Stahlhut, Tye Hughes, Matthew Joseph, Lachlan Walters, Lachlan Thomas, Sam Rockliff and Troy Rissman have all been named in a 25 player squad that will be contesting the State Championships from 27 April – 2nd May.
The Darling Downs team finished the Country Championships in 3rd place with 3 wins and 3 losses including a heartbreaking 1 point loss to the eventual champions in the Cape York Crusaders.
The outcome of representative players going on to the next level is a great result for the region in what will be the last time the Darling Downs players get the opportunity to represent the Country Kookaburra’s with the U16 following the U14 pathway and feeding into the Western Taipans program in 2012.
Coach Charlie Aston was extremely impressed with his chargers who conducted themselves with maturity and professionalism both on and off the field during the championships. Michael O’Donoghue senior and junior made up the coaching staff alongside Development Manager Keith Webb.
Congratulations to all the players in what was an outstanding result in our last year of competition in these championships. You have left a fantastic impression upon all of those who were involved in the carnival along with leaving a sterling remembrance of the Darling Downs at these championships.
